Job Overview

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking a dedicated and proactive Supply Chain Officer to join our dynamic team. The role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and effective management of medical and non-medical consumables across all UCLH sites. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from stock management and order placement to liaising with suppliers and ensuring that supply chain processes run efficiently. Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Management

  • Order and Stock Management: Responsible for managing the supply of medical and non-medical consumables across UCLH, ensuring timely ordering and receipt of goods.

  • Delivery and Distribution: Oversee the inbound delivery process, ensuring products are accurately received, checked, and stored appropriately. You’ll coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to maintain stock levels.

  • Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies, working with suppliers and internal teams to address any issues promptly.

  • Store Management: Ensure that store rooms remain tidy, accessible, and compliant with health and safety regulations. You will also manage the movement of items within the warehouse and ensure packaging is removed after deliveries.

Customer Service and Communication

  • Provide high-quality customer service to internal stakeholders, including departments requiring supplies.

  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with suppliers, ensuring any delays or issues are promptly addressed.

  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, promoting a positive and efficient working environment.

Physical Requirements

  • The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, unpacking, and packing. You will need to maintain a high level of physical fitness to meet these demands.

Departmental Improvements

  • Participate in ongoing departmental improvement projects, contributing ideas and participating in initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures to streamline operations and improve service delivery.


Essential Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

  • Minimum GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent.

  • Basic computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Experience

  • Previous experience in supply chain, logistics, or stores management is essential.

  • Ideally, some experience in a hospital, healthcare, or retail setting is beneficial but not required.

  • Experience using electronic systems such as handheld devices or PDAs for stock management is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.

  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize workload.

  • Willingness to undertake further qualifications in procurement or supply chain management, such as an NVQ.

  • Ability to work flexibly and use initiative to address challenges.


Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within the healthcare sector, particularly in NHS settings.

  • Understanding of procurement and supply chain methodologies.

  • Familiarity with material management concepts.

  • Ability to review and improve existing supply chain processes.
