This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the NEUROBOT project funded by ARIA, and support the meLAB research activities through effective project management and administrative support. As a Research Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving research excellence, managing complex projects, and fostering collaboration within the team.


Role Overview: Research Manager

As a Research Manager at the University of Glasgow, you will lead and support key research projects within the Microelectronics Lab (meLAB), particularly the NEUROBOT project. Your role will involve providing high-level support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and ensuring the smooth operation of research activities. You will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of project objectives, creating reports, and managing stakeholder communication, all while ensuring efficient delivery of project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will be multifaceted, with responsibilities that span across leadership, project management, fundraising, and strategic coordination.

1. Project Leadership & Management

  • Lead and develop the strategic approach for managing the meLAB research group.

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and research leadership team to drive research excellence.

  • Coordinate the NEUROBOT project activities, ensuring that objectives are met and timelines are adhered to.

  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring efficient project operations and smooth communication across all parties.

2. Administrative Support & Coordination

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure effective project delivery.

  • Prepare and review reports, presentations, and other materials for internal and external audiences.

  • Manage the logistics of project meetings and committees, acting as a liaison between stakeholders.

3. Fundraising & Prospect Research

  • Contribute to the Development & Alumni’s research strategy by identifying and researching potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and trusts.

  • Use data analysis and visualization tools to assess and manage prospect pools for fundraising initiatives.

  • Develop and manage reports to ensure alignment with fundraising goals and maximize donor engagement.

4. Risk Management & Compliance

  • Oversee the creation and management of the Risk Register, ensuring that potential risks are identified, monitored, and mitigated.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including GDPR and university policies.

  • Prepare IP and patent documentation, ensuring that intellectual property is protected and accurately recorded.

5. Event Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and manage outreach events, seminars, and promotional showcases, ensuring they align with the lab’s goals and objectives.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders and partners, maintaining positive and productive relationships.

  • Assist in organizing external partner visits and university outreach initiatives.


Key Qualifications & Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of GDPR-compliant research methods and an understanding of project finance, budgets, and resource allocation.

Essential Skills

  • Data Analytical Expertise: Proven ability to analyze and manipulate large datasets using Excel and other tools.

  • Communication Skills: High-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, present clear information, and influence decision-makers.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify and solve complex problems related to project delivery.

  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience in a similar prospect research or project management role, with experience handling IP and patents.

  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge or a similar database for prospect management.

  • Project Management: Substantial experience managing complex research projects and coordinating large teams.
