Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the Estates team, collaborating with senior managers to ensure effective monitoring and risk management of estate maintenance and management services.

  • Quality Service Delivery: Ensure the delivery of professional, high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient services, meeting the needs of the organization, its patients, and staff.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with senior stakeholders to drive operational and corporate planning, supporting the maintenance of estate infrastructure and contributing to large-scale hospital projects.

Operational & Corporate Planning

  • Investment Strategy: Contribute to strategic planning, ensuring that investments in the estate are aligned with the Government’s new hospital programme.

  • Project Management: Oversee procurement processes, ensuring accountability for financial performance, project timelines, and business case development in partnership with Trust stakeholders and delivery partners.

Project Development & Delivery

  • Scheme Development: Lead and develop project schemes, ensuring the seamless execution of maintenance and capital works.

  • Quality Control: Ensure the highest standards of project delivery, from concept to completion, adhering to quality guidelines and budget constraints.


Qualifications & Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Higher Education: Appropriate higher-level education in Estates and/or Facilities Management.

  • CPD Evidence: Demonstrable evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).

  • Leadership Experience: Extensive senior management experience in estates operations within a complex organization, with a focus on large multi-disciplined teams and delivering high-quality services.

Essential Experience

  • Strategic Management: Proven track record of coordinating complex organizational changes such as service changes, mergers, restructuring, and modernization.

  • Budget & Financial Management: Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget setting, cost improvement programmes, and financial planning.

  • Contract Management: Significant experience in managing Estates Hard FM services contracts, including auditing, monitoring, and managing payment mechanisms and lifecycle costing.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with a variety of external organizations, including NHS Property Services, City & County Councils, and Department of Health.

  • Team Leadership: Demonstrable success in managing and motivating teams, working collaboratively to achieve targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Building Services Management: In-depth knowledge of building services management, with a focus on delivering high-quality, responsive, and cost-effective services.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous Senior Roles: Experience in a senior role, ideally as a deputy, within estates or facilities management.

  • Digital & Technology Focus: Experience in the integration of technology and digital developments in estates and facilities management.
