  • Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC)

  • Wellcome / EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS)

The OASIS Hub—funded by EPSRC and developed in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London—focuses on creating portable, low-cost imaging tools that can visualize and diagnose cancer. Your Role as Communications Manager

Lead Strategy, Strengthen Visibility, and Elevate Research Impact

As Communications Manager, you will:

  • Develop and lead comprehensive communications strategies for both the UCL Hawkes Institute and the OASIS Hub.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for communication between UCL departments, external collaborators, and the Faculty communications team.

  • Create high-quality, engaging content for diverse platforms, including:

    • Press releases

    • Web articles

    • Social media campaigns

    • Research impact summaries

    • Annual reports

  • Oversee visual identity and branding, ensuring consistency across digital and print materials.

  • Manage internal and external communications, with a focus on promoting interdisciplinary research.

  • Organize large-scale events (100+ attendees) including budget oversight, logistics, and stakeholder engagement.

This role is ideal for a communications expert passionate about healthcare innovation, academic storytelling, and public engagement.


Candidate Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Team

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience developing and delivering strategic communications projects.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills tailored to diverse audiences.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to deliver content from concept to execution.

  • Demonstrated experience organizing events involving senior stakeholders, large audiences, and complex logistics.

  • An understanding of interdisciplinary research communications in areas such as healthcare, engineering, or medical imaging.

  • Ability to translate complex scientific material into compelling narratives and media-friendly content.

  • Familiarity with digital communication tools, CMS platforms, and social media management.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a university, non-profit, or research-driven organization.

  • Experience developing visual branding and managing design workflows.

  • Awareness of UK research funding bodies, including EPSRC and Wellcome Trust.
