We are seeking a motivated Financial Advisor to support the Mental Health & Learning Disabilities finance team. Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Advisor, you will work within the Management Accounting Finance Team to provide professional financial support to operational managers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Advice and Support: Providing guidance on financial matters, helping managers understand budgetary and income controls.

  • Variance Investigation: Analyzing financial discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.

  • Budget Control: Ensuring proper control over cost and income, while supporting the development of financial forecasts.

  • Timely Financial Reporting: Producing accurate financial information within strict deadlines, adhering to financial regulations and guidelines.

  • Financial Risk Management: Identifying potential financial risks and exploring opportunities for cost savings.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • AAT certification or equivalent experience.

  • Finance/Accounting degree or proven ability to operate at a degree level.

  • Evidence of professional development in budget management, financial reporting, and control.

Desirable Qualifications

  • ECDL Qualification (European Computer Driving Licence).

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience within an NHS finance environment.

  • Proficient in using computerized financial management systems and controls.

  • Experience with budget setting, variance reporting, and financial reconciliations in the NHS.

  • Familiarity with VAT rules and NHS accounting guidelines.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in dealing with external agencies and responding to audit queries.


Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and other PC-based office applications.
