We are looking for a motivated Financial Analyst to work at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor. Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst at BCUHB, your core duties will include:

Budgeting & Financial Management
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of service budgets for income, pay, and non-pay categories, ensuring they align with financial goals and departmental needs.

  • Ensure strict compliance with the Health Board’s financial policies, including standing orders and statutory accounting standards.

Financial Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze complex financial data and present clear, actionable insights to both finance and non-finance staff.

  • Support monthly and annual financial performance management by processing journals, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger.

Stakeholder Engagement & Query Resolution
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and suppliers to resolve budgetary issues, ensuring smooth financial operations.

  • Address and resolve queries related to income, expenditure, and budget management, including those that involve sensitive and complex financial information.

Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the improvement of financial systems, controls, and reporting methods.

  • Work proactively to ensure all financial processes are transparent, efficient, and timely, contributing to better service delivery.


Person Specification

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

Essential Qualifications
  • AAT Level 3 (Technician) Qualification or equivalent experience in financial management.

  • Evidence of continued professional development in budget management, financial reporting, and control.

Desirable Qualifications
  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification to support your use of computer-based financial systems.

Experience
  • Proven experience in a finance environment, particularly in budget preparation and financial reporting.

  • Experience using financial management systems (e.g., Oracle Financial Systems) and data analysis tools.

  • Knowledge of NHS accounting standards, VAT rules, and relevant financial legislation is an advantage.

Skills
  • Strong ability to process, analyze, and interpret complex financial data.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools, capable of managing and analyzing large datasets.

  • Excellent communication skills to explain financial data to non-finance colleagues.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize workloads, and meet tight deadlines.
