Job Summary
Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to join their dedicated ICT team. This role is vital in ensuring the protection of the Health Board’s systems and services against evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of cyber security technologies and skills in network security, monitoring, and incident response. Exposure to EDR technologies, IPS, and Vulnerability Management tools will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will:
1. Cyber Security Systems Development & Management

Develop and implement robust cyber security systems to protect the organization’s network infrastructure.

Utilize industry-standard monitoring and scanning tools, including SIEM technologies and vulnerability management systems.
2. Incident Response & Monitoring

Lead the monitoring of cyber security systems to detect and respond to potential security incidents promptly.

Serve as an escalation point for critical security incidents, offering expert analysis and guidance.
3. Policy Implementation & Risk Management

Implement processes, procedures, and policies to minimize the risk of security breaches and incidents.

Ensure compliance with national cyber security legislation and best practices.
4. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with the Cyber Security team and third-party partners to review security measures and ensure alignment with industry standards.

Engage in continual professional development to keep up with evolving cyber security practices and technologies.
5. Adherence to Professional Codes & Legislation

Follow the Cyber Security professional code of conduct and ensure adherence to relevant security frameworks like ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials+.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential:

ITIL Foundation Certification or equivalent

Degree level education (preferably in Cyber Security) or equivalent experience

Recognized cyber security certifications such as CISMP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent

Proven knowledge of cyber security best practices, standards, and frameworks

Commitment to continual professional development
