Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker
As a Support Worker, your role will be centered around assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort, and promoting their overall well-being. Your responsibilities will include:
- Personal Care: Assist clients with dressing, undressing, bathing, using the toilet, and feeding where necessary.
- Household Support: Perform light cleaning duties, meal preparation, and assist clients with domestic tasks such as letter writing, paying bills, and collecting benefits.
- Emotional and Practical Support: Provide emotional support through conversation, helping clients with budgeting and money management. Encourage participation in recreational and leisure activities.
- Health Monitoring: Record vital signs like temperature, pulse, respiration, and weight. You’ll also monitor clients’ conditions and contribute to care plan updates.
- Liaison with Healthcare Professionals: Accompany clients to appointments with other healthcare professionals and agencies, as well as collaborate with families to ensure the best care possible.
- Collaboration: Work alongside social workers, other support workers, and healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
This position requires you to support a diverse client base, including individuals with disabilities, autism, dementia, and more, providing both practical assistance and emotional support tailored to their unique needs.
Qualifications and Skills
