The Crown and Cushion, a renowned food-led pub located in the picturesque village of Welburn, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join their dynamic kitchen team. As a vital member of our culinary team, you will play a key role in crafting exceptional dishes, maintaining high food standards, and ensuring a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Quality Control: Prepare and cook dishes from scratch, including bread, sauces, and desserts. Maintain a high standard of food quality and presentation, in line with the pub’s reputation for excellence.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, ensuring they follow correct procedures and uphold hygiene standards. Work collaboratively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Menu Innovation: Contribute creative ideas for seasonal menus and specials while adhering to set food specifications.
- Stock & Cost Control: Manage food costs, stock levels, and wastage efficiently. Ensure adherence to budgeted food margins.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain strict food hygiene and food safety standards in line with regulations.
- Operational Support: Assist with food ordering and preparation, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly during busy periods.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a professional kitchen, with a background in a similar role (preferably with Rosette experience).
- Qualifications: Formal qualifications in culinary arts are an advantage, though substantial hands-on experience will be considered.

- Strong leadership and communication abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
- Proficiency in food costing, stock management, and financial tracking

- Additional Requirements:
- Due to the remote location, candidates must have access to transport.
