Internship Overview
The Software Engineering Internship is an exciting opportunity for college juniors graduating in 2026 who are eager to dive deep into the world of software engineering. This remote internship will span 10 weeks during the Spring/Summer of 2025, offering hands-on experience in building the infrastructure behind Acorns’ innovative financial products.
Interns will collaborate closely with our engineering teams, including mobile, frontend, backend, and QA, to help develop scalable, reliable financial solutions. This is an immersive experience, and interns will be expected to integrate seamlessly into the team, taking on meaningful work and contributing to major projects.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate Across Engineering Teams
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to develop new features and products.
- Participate in team brainstorming sessions to identify the best ways to address business needs.
Write High-Quality Code
- Use one or more programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Swift, etc.) to develop new software features and ensure they meet technical and functional requirements.
Design and Develop Solutions
- Design and develop scalable and high-performance systems for financial applications.
- Write clear documentation for code and solutions you implement.
Learn and Grow
- Engage in continuous learning to keep up with new technologies and approaches in software development.
- Attend mentorship sessions and gain insights from experienced engineers.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Junior standing (graduating in 2026).
- Available for full-time work during the 10-week summer internship (starting June 2025).
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Swift, Typescript, JavaScript, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for software development.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Motivated to learn new technologies and eager to contribute to impactful projects.
