Role Responsibilities
As a Social Worker at Cygnet Hospital Sheffield, your role will involve a wide range of responsibilities aimed at maximizing positive outcomes for patients and service users. Your key duties will include:

Collaborating with Service Users: Work directly with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders to support recovery processes, while ensuring service users understand their legal rights.

Multi-disciplinary Teamwork: Actively participate in a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement recovery plans.

Safeguarding: Take an active role in safeguarding patients, ensuring their wellbeing and safety within the hospital setting.

Report Writing and Documentation: Provide accurate written reports to the multidisciplinary team and ensure records are up-to-date, adhering to confidentiality and data protection standards.

Community Integration: Support service users in accessing meaningful community activities and preparing for discharge through therapy, rehabilitation, and independent living skills.

Mentoring and Supervision: Engage with junior staff members, supporting their development and ensuring the quality of care provided across all levels.
Your Day-to-Day
As a full-time Social Worker working 40 hours per week, your role will involve working Monday to Friday. You will:

Lead on social care assessments for service users.

Provide therapeutic support through partnership with patients, their families, and other professionals.

Participate in meetings with local authorities, statutory bodies, and support agencies to ensure the most effective care strategies are in place for service users.

Develop care plans and support the implementation of treatments in line with ethical guidelines and the hospital’s mission.
Who We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
Essential Qualifications & Skills

Registered Social Worker with Social Work England.

A relevant Social Work qualification (e.g., Social Work Degree or equivalent).

Experience in Mental Health: Experience or a strong passion for working in a mental health setting.

Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, confidentiality, and equality & diversity issues.

Strong communication skills with exceptional interpersonal abilities.

Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care.

Report Writing Skills: Strong literacy and attention to detail.
Desirable Attributes

Additional training or experience in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) or learning disabilities.

Prior experience working in a secure hospital or a similar environment.

Cygnet Hospital Sheffield is a low secure service for women and CAMHS services (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) for both male and female adolescents.
