Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to join our team of allied health professionals. This role is ideal for those looking to gain experience within a dynamic and fast-paced acute teaching hospital environment. The position involves participation in our General Rotation, offering a wide range of learning opportunities across various medical disciplines.

Rotation Areas

  • Inpatients: Medicine, Respiratory, Rapid Response (Admission Avoidance), Trauma Orthopaedics, Oncology, No Criteria to Reside Unit, Neurosurgery
  • Outpatients: MSK, Paediatrics, Day Surgery
  • Community: Hull and East Riding Falls Service

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will:

  • Deliver assessments and evidence-based treatments to patients in acute care, enhancing recovery and promoting well-being.
  • Participate in both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as community locations, supporting our seven-day service model.
  • Actively contribute to the multidisciplinary team, building networks with various agencies to address immediate patient needs.
  • Support and guide Band 5 physiotherapists transitioning into senior roles, with the possibility of development from Band 5 to Band 6 for suitable candidates.
  • Engage in operational management, service planning, development, and teaching activities.
  • Serve as a role model, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and motivating the team.
  • Participate in the Respiratory On-call Service and work shifts up to 8 pm as required.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Recognised qualification in Physiotherapy (e.g., degree) with current HCPC registration.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 months of recent NHS experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of NHS discharge systems, evidence of achieving relevant B5 core physiotherapy competencies.
  • Mobility: Must be able to drive or demonstrate independent travel capability to patients’ residences in the community.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or studies (e.g., PG Cert/Diploma).
  • Completion of a student educator course at a UK institution.
  • Achievement of Respiratory/on-call competencies in recent roles.
