We are seeking a highly skilled data professional to lead the implementation of efficient data flows between operational systems, analytics platforms, and business intelligence (BI) systems. This role will be instrumental in improving healthcare navigation, integrating data systems, and enhancing service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Development
- Design and develop complex ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) scripts and data pipelines.
- Optimize existing data processes for high performance and reliability.
- Build scalable and resilient data streaming systems to handle real-time data flows.
- Leverage industry-recognized data modeling techniques to structure and manage large datasets.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Guide and mentor junior data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Act as a champion for data quality, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align data initiatives with organizational objectives.
Data Integration & Management
- Oversee data integration efforts, ensuring smooth interoperability between multiple platforms.
- Maintain and enhance master patient data records, referral pathways, and appointment scheduling data.
- Implement metadata management strategies to improve data discoverability and usability.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NHS data security regulations, including GDPR and clinical safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain secure data environments, applying best practices in governance and access control.
Technical & Service Optimization
- Partner with IT teams to deliver high-performance data services, reducing system downtime and improving efficiency.
- Lead service improvement initiatives to optimize database operations, monitoring, and automation processes.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Educational Background: Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with multiple data engineering technologies (SQL, Oracle, SSIS, SSRS, etc.).
- Experience: Proven track record as a Data Engineer/Data Warehouse Engineer, designing, developing, and operating large-scale data solutions.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and optimize complex data structures.
- Communication Skills: Ability to translate technical data concepts into non-technical terms for stakeholders.
- Project Management: Experience in Agile, PRINCE2, or similar methodologies for data project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills
- ITIL or relevant service management certification.
- Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
- Knowledge of healthcare/NHS data environments.
- Understanding of cloud-based data engineering solutions.
