Key Responsibilities

As a Residential Conveyancer at Curtis Solicitors, you will be responsible for handling a range of tasks related to residential conveyancing. Your primary duties will include:

Fee-Earning Work and Supervision

  • Undertake and supervise fee-earning work in residential conveyancing, ensuring high standards of service and legal compliance.
  • Supervise and deputize within the conveyancing department, ensuring the smooth operation of tasks and adherence to firm procedures.

Managing Residential Conveyancing Transactions

  • Handle all aspects of residential conveyancing on behalf of clients, including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and new builds.
  • Draft legal documents such as letters and contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct property searches with Local Authorities, Land Registry, and other relevant bodies.

Client Interaction and Communication

  • Regularly report to clients with relevant updates on their purchase or sale transactions.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on leasehold and freehold property transactions, ensuring they are well-informed throughout the process.
  • Exercise excellent client care at all times, addressing client concerns with professionalism and courtesy.

Legal Compliance and Financial Control

  • Ensure all legal procedures comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of both the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information.
  • Manage financial control, including collection of monies on account and the billing procedures for your matters.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Complete completion statements and submit stamp duty forms.
  • Assist in the registration of documents at the Land Registry.
  • Carry out any other duties required by the firm, as directed by the partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for the Residential Conveyancer position, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in residential conveyancing, with a strong understanding of property law and conveyancing processes.
  • Proficiency in using case management systems to track and manage cases efficiently.
  • A commitment to self-development and the ability to comply with training requirements as per the Law Society and in-house programs.
