Role Overview

As a Strategic Account Executive, you will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and closing high-value deals with some of the largest enterprises in the world. You’ll focus on understanding their cloud migration challenges and offering tailored Datadog solutions that maximize performance and security.

Your success in this role will be driven by your ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, create compelling sales strategies, and effectively negotiate enterprise contracts.


Key Responsibilities

1. Enterprise Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect and engage Fortune 1000 companies, driving strategic sales conversations.
  • Develop and execute a territory plan to build a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Identify and map key decision-makers, creating strong relationship networks within target accounts.

2. Solution Selling & Customer Engagement

  • Understand customer challenges related to cloud migration, security, and monitoring.
  • Deliver value-based selling, focusing on ROI and efficiency improvements.
  • Negotiate complex contracts, ensuring mutually beneficial pricing and terms.

3. Sales Process & Forecasting

  • Maintain high forecasting accuracy and pipeline consistency.
  • Run an efficient sales process, moving deals from prospecting to closure.
  • Drive account expansion strategies to grow customer investment in Datadog.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in mid-market or enterprise sales.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets ($1M+ in annual revenue).
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles with $100K+ average deal sizes.
  • Ability to prospect and build a pipeline independently.
  • Experience selling SaaS, IT infrastructure, or cloud solutions preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to engage C-level executives.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time to meet clients in person.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MEDDIC or Command of the Message sales methodologies.
  • Background in cloud technologies, DevOps, or cybersecurity.
  • A strong network within Fortune 1000 organizations.

Salary & Compensation

We believe in fair and competitive compensation based on skills, experience, and impact.

  • Base Salary: $135,000—$150,000 USD
  • Performance-Based Commission & Bonuses
  • Stock Equity (RSU) & Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
