Department Overview
The Senior Platform Product Manager will be part of the Product Engineering team. This department develops and maintains technology systems supporting IM’s products, services, and partnerships. It manages information technology, curriculum production and delivery, and measures IM’s impact on schools.
Position Summary
As the Senior Platform Product Manager, you will report to the VP of Product Engineering. You will help define IM’s platform strategy, bridging business needs and technical solutions by gathering, analyzing, and translating requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Vision and Strategy: Define the long-term vision and strategy for IM’s new platform.
- Collaboration: Ensure alignment between technical solutions, business objectives, and user needs with internal departments and external partners.
- Knowledge Acquisition: Gain deep understanding of IM’s existing workflows, tools, technologies, and resources.
- Proactive Engagement: Engage in requirements gathering and research ahead of new initiatives.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, addressing issues that may impact project success.
- Performance Tracking: Define and track key performance indicators, analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
- Optimization: Prioritize and implement optimizations based on data-driven insights.
- Project Management: Define project scopes, evaluate trade-offs, ensure feasibility, and develop product/technical roadmaps with the Director of Engineering and Product Strategy Department.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years as a product manager, product owner, business analyst, product engineer, or similar role.
- Proven experience managing the lifecycle of a platform from conception to launch and beyond.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with technical product layers, such as APIs and analytics.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
- Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in EdTech, education, or publishing.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with tools that analyze product usage and performance.
- Experience with custom CMS or internal platform features.
- Experience working with APIs and non-visual data representations.
- Proficiency with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace, Zoom, and Slack.
Compensation and Benefits
Illustrative Mathematics is committed to equity and transparency, offering competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education. This position is exempt.
Annual Salary Range: $145,000 – $155,000

Travel Notice
IM aims to provide employees with a minimum of two weeks’ notice before requiring travel. However, there may be instances where travel is necessary with less notice due to specific role demands.
