About the Role
OpenAI is looking for an experienced Market Research Lead to spearhead our market research initiatives. As our first market research hire, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of brand presence and audience segments. Your insights will guide strategic decisions across the organization, ensuring our offerings align with user needs and market trends.
Job Title: Market Research Lead
Location: Remote (United States)
Salary: $200K – $295K
Key Responsibilities
- Thought Leadership: Act as a thought leader and advocate for research and insights internally, promoting a research-centric culture.
- Global Brand Tracking: Lead the design, implementation, and analysis of global brand tracking studies across multiple audience segments.
- Research Innovation: Develop comprehensive research plans and innovative methods for gathering insights on brand perception, market trends, and sentiment analysis.
- Message Testing: Conduct message testing to evaluate and optimize brand communication strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate brand insights into product experience and reputation-building efforts.
- Reporting: Create and present research reports with strategic recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Data Analysis: Distinguish signal from noise in research, identifying red flags and inconsistencies based on business needs.
- Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging research methodologies.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external research vendors and ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Research Tools Management: Oversee our “research stack” of tools and instrumentation, driving high-quality user research.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in brand research, market research, or a related field.
- Expertise: Proven expertise in designing and managing research instruments, initiatives, and teams.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical software and research tools.
- Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills for translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Collaboration: Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing decision-making.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of brand strategy, marketing principles, consumer behavior, and technology trends.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
