Role Overview
Canonical is seeking a Financial Analyst II to join our FP&A team and wider finance department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our monthly business reviews, quarterly forecasting, annual planning, and driving cross-functional business alignment. We are looking for an analytical independent thinker who uses business judgment and data to guide critical financial, commercial, and strategic decisions.
Job Position: Financial Analyst II
Location: Remote (EMEA or Americas time zones)
Responsibilities
- Business Insights: Analyze unit economics, drivers of variance, and other KPIs to generate insights into business operations.
- Financial Planning: Support quarterly and annual financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and monthly budget reviews.
- Commercial Analysis: Provide analysis of commercial initiatives impacting the business strategically or financially.
- Scalable Processes: Create objective analyses and processes to help a fast-growing tech company scale efficiently and make data-driven decisions.
- Systems Enhancement: Support cross-functional change projects aimed at enhancing systems, processes, and data accuracy.
- Stakeholder Communication: Partner with and communicate business progress to key stakeholders against financial and strategic targets.
Qualifications
- Academic Excellence: Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Communication: Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Versatility: Curiosity and willingness to work on a wide range of projects.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in spreadsheets and financial modeling, understanding of core accounting principles.
- Interpersonal Skills: Professional written and spoken English, excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Motivation: Passion, thoughtfulness, self-motivation, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Travel: Ability to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks long.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
- Experience: Experience in an analytically focused finance or business role, Business Intelligence reporting, CRM, and ERP systems.
- Implementation Skills: Experience with the implementation of Budgeting and Planning Software.
