Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse at TLC Care, you will lead the nursing team to deliver exceptional care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Resident Care & Care Planning
- Assess residents’ care needs and develop individual care plans
- Ensure all care plans are completed and regularly updated in collaboration with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Provide direct nursing care and oversee the health of all residents
- Administer prescribed medications and document care activities in line with NMC guidelines
- Act as the named nurse for designated residents
2. Tissue Viability & Pressure Ulcer Prevention
- Ensure high standards of care to prevent pressure sores
- Document and report any pressure sores to relevant parties
- Develop care plans for residents at risk of pressure sores
3. Nutrition & Hydration
- Complete MUST assessments monthly to identify residents at risk of malnutrition
- Track fluid and food intake for residents with specific nutrition or hydration needs
- Collaborate with the kitchen to meet special dietary requirements
- Oversee PEG feeding care plans for residents who require specialized nutrition
4. Continence & Infection Control
- Conduct continence assessments and ensure proper care plans for residents with catheters
- Uphold infection control protocols, ensuring all staff follow standard universal precautions
5. Resident Mobility & Safety
- Encourage residents to maintain mobility with appropriate walking aids
- Create care plans to minimize fall risks for residents
6. Dignity, Respect, & Communication
- Promote an environment of dignity and respect, addressing residents by their preferred names
- Participate in family and multidisciplinary meetings to ensure clear communication
- Handle complaints and concerns in a timely and effective manner
7. Health & Safety
- Ensure adherence to health and safety policies
- Promote safe working practices within the care home
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate nurse who is ready to deliver high-quality care to residents. The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Required Qualifications:
- NMC Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN number
- Experience in a similar care setting, preferably with the elderly
- Ability to delegate effectively and work within a multidisciplinary team
Additional Requirements:
- Genuine interest in working with elderly residents
- Satisfactory DBS and DBS Adult First check
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with residents, families, and the care team
