About the Role

The Genomics Medicine Service (GMS) is a trailblazer in healthcare, being the first system globally to integrate Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) into routine care. As a Programme Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing project management support to the Science and Laboratory workstream within the Genomics Unit. This is a fast-paced role, ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in genetic testing and laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide project management support to ensure efficient delivery of tasks and projects.
  • Collaborate with teams to allocate resources effectively through analysis and stakeholder management.
  • Offer high-quality secretariat support, including agenda setting, minute-taking, and drafting correspondence.
  • Lead the planning and execution of events, meetings, and workshops.
  • Maintain updated milestone plans, risk registers, and programme management documentation.
  • Research and draft reports, correspondence, and papers for a range of audiences.
  • Support internal and external communication to manage stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Training or substantial experience in project management, financial management, or change management.

Experience:

  • Proven track record in providing administrative support for complex programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of genetic testing and NHS genomic services.
  • Experience evaluating and improving health service performance.

Skills:

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with proficiency in report writing and presenting ideas clearly.
  • Effective project management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
