Key Responsibilities of a Pharmaceutical Technician

As a Pharmaceutical Technician at Ahmeys Pharmacy, you will play an integral role in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible pharmaceutical care. Your responsibilities will include:

Dispensing Medications and Ensuring Safety

  • Accurately dispense medications to patients and ensure prescription accuracy
  • Label and prepare prescriptions, confirming no contraindications between medications
  • Monitor and track medications to maintain inventory control and ensure regulatory compliance

Customer Service and Patient Interaction

  • Provide personalized advice to patients about the safe and proper use of prescription medications
  • Offer guidance on potential side effects, drug interactions, and answers to patient questions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients and local healthcare providers, including GP practices
  • Assist patients with wellness and health screenings, such as blood-pressure monitoring and diabetes screening

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and supervise a team of pharmacy staff, ensuring tasks are carried out efficiently and accurately
  • Provide training and support to junior pharmacy staff, helping them develop their skills
  • Ensure that all pharmacy operations align with legal, ethical, and company requirements

Pharmacy Operations and Business Management

  • Manage the pharmacy’s inventory, budget, and operational processes
  • Maximize pharmacy sales and profitability by promoting services and products to customers
  • Use pharmacy computer systems to maintain accurate records, track inventory, and monitor sales

Compliance and Legal Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all legal regulations, including the handling and storage of controlled drugs
  • Review prescription labels, doses, and procedures to maintain a safe and legally compliant pharmacy environment
  • Stay up to date with the latest pharmaceutical developments, products, and laws

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical procedures and the ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • Excellent customer care and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients
  • Attention to detail and high standards of accuracy in all pharmacy tasks
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage pharmacy operations, including stock control and sales analysis
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Statistical Analysis

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy experience: Minimum of 4-6 months working in a pharmacy setting
  • Tier 2 Visa sponsorship: Eligible candidates must meet the criteria for the Skilled Worker Visa (visit UK Skilled Worker Visa)
  • Certification in Statistical Analysis and experience in pharmacy stock control are preferred
