We are seeking a motivated Optical Healthcare Assistant to support clinical operations in a state-of-the-art facility. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in healthcare or optical care and a passion for helping patients manage visual impairments.

Position: Optical Healthcare Assistant
Type: Full-Time | Part-Time
Salary: £23,615 – £25,674 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)

Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Support: Assist with day-to-day clinic operations, including pre- and post-operative care.
- Diagnostics: Perform visual acuity tests and support diagnostic procedures.
- Patient Care: Address patient queries, offering support and reassurance.
- Surgical Preparation: Clean, prepare, and assemble surgical equipment.
- Injection Assistance: Act as a runner or escort for intravitreal injection procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all clinical areas and equipment are prepared and stored appropriately.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with registered nurses to provide exceptional care to patients and their families.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- GCSE grade C or equivalent in numeracy and literacy (or Key Skills Level 2/Functional Skills Level 2).
- NVQ/QCF Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or willingness to undertake a Care Certificate.
- Previous experience in healthcare or optical care, preferably in secondary care.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experience working with individuals who have visual impairments.
Desirable:
- Dispensing-related qualifications.
- Understanding of the role of an HCA in Ophthalmology.
- Evidence of effective communication with the public in a healthcare setting.
