Scholarship Details

The Lakehead University Masters Scholarship provides:

  • Stipend: $20,000 per year for two years.
  • Funding Assistance: Support for conference travel, fieldwork, and publication.
  • Program Focus: The program titled “Sustainable, Safe, Smart, and Connected Building Management to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions” is offered by the Department of Geography and the Environment. This research aims to develop a GIS-based indoor floor map for the Four Rivers Environmental Services Group’s new office space, focusing on smart building management and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Research Objectives

  • Data Collection: Gather data related to building floors, energy consumption, and space planning.
  • Image and LIDAR Acquisition: Capture indoor images and LIDAR data to support the development of the indoor model.
  • Model Development: Create an indoor model for the office building, including rules for navigation, space, and energy management.
  • Smart Workspace Design: Develop a smart workspace model for future reference and implementation.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Lakehead University Masters Scholarship, applicants must possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro software
  • Expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Basic understanding of Remote Sensing and LIDAR
  • Computer programming skills

Benefits
