Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the 2024 Humboldt Research Fellowship Program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Applicants must not be German nationals. Germans can apply if they have lived and worked abroad for more than 10 years.
- Expert Reviews:
- Postdocs: Two expert reviews are required from your doctoral supervisor and another researcher, preferably from outside your institution.
- Experienced Researchers: Reviews from collaborative partners and researchers, preferably from outside your country of origin.
- Language Skills:
- Natural Sciences & Engineering: Proficiency in English or German is required.
- Humanities, Social Sciences & Medicine: Proficiency in German is necessary unless your research can be conducted in English.
Program Benefits
- Postdoctoral Fellows:
- Monthly stipend of €2,670, with fellowships lasting between 6-24 months.
- Experienced Researchers:
- Monthly stipend of €3,170, with fellowships lasting between 6-18 months, divided into multiple stays over three years.

- Family allowances, private health insurance subsidies, and travel expense coverage.
- Individual support from the Humboldt Foundation throughout the fellowship.
