Essential Requirements for Home Care Assistants
To succeed as a Home Care Assistant with Oran Care, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Genuine desire to help people: You should have a passion for supporting vulnerable individuals, including those with dementia or other illnesses.
- Willingness to learn: Embrace the challenges of providing care and always be willing to grow and adapt.
- PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) certification: This is required to work with vulnerable adults and children, but we can assist with applications if you do not have it yet.
- Driving licence & access to a car: This is essential, as the role requires travel between clients’ homes.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
As a Home Care Assistant, your key duties will include:
- Providing essential support: Help service users with daily tasks in their own homes, ensuring they can maintain independence.
- Personal care: Assist service users with personal care in line with their individual care plans.
- Maintaining a safe environment: Ensure a clean and safe home environment for service users, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Record-keeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation of care provided.
- Community-based work: Provide services within local communities, traveling to people’s homes across Fife.
Shift & Hours
All Care Workers follow a condensed repeating schedule:
- Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
- Week 2: Monday, Thursday, Friday
Full-time Care Workers are on the rota for full days, while part-time Care Workers are scheduled for half-day shifts. You will be required to work every second weekend.
