Key Responsibilities of a Home Care Assistant
As a Home Care Assistant, you will provide vital support to individuals in their own homes, helping them with daily activities while promoting their independence and quality of life. Your duties will include:
1. Personal Care & Companionship
- Assisting with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Offering companionship to reduce loneliness and improve emotional well-being
- Providing mobility support, ensuring clients can move around safely
2. Health & Medication Support
- Reminding and assisting clients with their medication
- Collecting prescriptions and ensuring clients follow their medication schedules
3. Mealtime Assistance & Household Support
- Preparing nutritious meals and ensuring clients receive proper nutrition
- Helping with housekeeping tasks, keeping the home clean and comfortable
4. Monitoring & Reporting
- Observing any changes in clients’ health and reporting concerns to the care team
- Maintaining accurate care records to ensure the highest standards of care
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- At least 1 year of home care experience (required)
- UK Driving Licence (required)
- Care Certificate (required)
- Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (required)
- A compassionate and patient nature with strong communication skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with elderly individuals, people with disabilities, or those requiring specialized care
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a professional attitude
- Willingness to relocate within the UK if needed
