Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
As a Health Care Assistant, your main duties will include:
- Supporting Qualified Nurses: Assist in delivering essential nursing care that allows patients to remain in their homes.
- Patient Care: Provide direct support to patients, including personal care, medication administration, and emotional support.
- Supervision and Training: Perform basic nursing procedures, such as blood pressure monitoring and phlebotomy, under supervision.
- Travel and Flexibility: Travel independently across the Luton area to patients’ homes while carrying necessary equipment.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, social services, and other care providers.
- Patient Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using both paper and electronic systems.
- Communication: Be the first point of contact for patient queries, providing support and direction when necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Qualifications:
- Good standard of spoken and written English.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health or the willingness to work towards it.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Admin or clerical training.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Experience in a health care setting.
Essential Skills:
- Basic IT skills (ability to use email and patient management systems).
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Ability to cope with challenging patient behaviors and provide empathetic support.
