Job Overview

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead our Therapies Directorate. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional with a proven track record in healthcare management, strategic planning, and operational leadership.

As General Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Clinical Director and Quality Lead for Therapies to drive service excellence, operational efficiency, and strategic development. You will also oversee the Therapies administrative operational team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Therapies Directorate, ensuring high-quality patient care and service delivery.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee budget management, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial sustainability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and local authorities, to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Drive service improvements through data analysis, performance monitoring, and workforce planning.
  • Manage and support the Therapies administrative and operational team, ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS policies, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • Postgraduate management qualification (Master’s level) or equivalent training/experience.
  • Significant managerial experience in healthcare, demonstrating operational success and leadership skills.
  • Strong financial management experience, including budget planning and cost control.
  • Knowledge of health service management, workforce planning, and change management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant clinical qualifications.
  • Formal project management certification.
  • Experience in NHS or local government healthcare management.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business cases.
  • Understanding of the evolving NHS landscape, including patient choice, financial flows, and GP commissioning.
