Compensation: $25/hour

Role Overview:

We are seeking a talented, ambitious self-starter with exceptional editing and research skills to join our quality assurance freelance team. As a Freelance Digital Editor, you’ll ensure that prominent Democratic figures and world-changing nonprofits consistently present their best. This role is ideal for someone passionate about progressive activism who values precision and the AP Stylebook.

Responsibilities:

  • Editing: Review fundraising and advocacy emails daily for accuracy, syntax, punctuation, grammar, spelling, and typos.
  • Fact-Checking: Verify facts to ensure accuracy.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform technical checks on email tests and landing pages, ensuring proper tracking, URLs, rendering, and functionality.
  • Style Adherence: Ensure emails align with internal and client-specific styles while maintaining an authentic voice.
  • Collaboration: Work with client teams, including technology and creative departments, to manage resources and project timelines.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • At least one year in an editing-adjacent position or internship.
  • Availability to work during weekdays, especially during the training period.
  • Experience using a style guide (AP or otherwise).
  • Disciplined, critical thinker with an eye for detail and perfection.
  • Adaptability to learn and adjust to new technologies and tools.
  • Ability to review short copy under tight deadlines.
  • Passion for making the world a better place.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Ability to parse policy.
  • Experience with email and SMS functionality and/or user experience.

Compensation:

  • Starting at $25/hour, increasing based on experience.
  • Training period pay rate (up to the first 60 hours) will be 75% of the agreed rate.
