Key Responsibilities
1. Management Accounting and Budget Monitoring

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of all income and expenditure related to named budgets within the Health Board.

Ensure compliance with standing orders, financial instructions, and relevant accounting standards.

Work collaboratively with the team to manage the financial systems and prepare accurate financial reports on income, expenditure, and budgets.
2. Financial Analysis and Reporting

Analyze complex financial data to support the preparation of budgets for service areas (including pay, non-pay, and income).

Prepare monthly journals for input into the general ledger, ensuring correct coding and alignment with budget controls.

Provide in-depth financial analysis to inform decision-making, and effectively communicate the results to both finance and non-finance staff.
3. Support for External Agencies and Audit Queries

Respond to queries from external stakeholders, suppliers, and staff regarding financial management issues.

Help resolve any complex or sensitive financial matters, ensuring clarity and precision in resolving discrepancies and handling challenges.

Engage with audit teams to address queries and ensure compliance with audit guidelines and financial reporting standards.
4. Team Collaboration and Communication

Work effectively as part of the Management Accounting Finance Team to achieve corporate financial objectives.

Maintain an open line of communication with clinical and operational teams to ensure financial data is accurately interpreted and understood.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:

Essential: AAT Technician Level Qualification or equivalent work experience in financial management.

Desirable: ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.

Essential: Proven experience working in a financial environment, particularly with computerized financial systems and controls.

Experience in budget setting, financial reporting, and responding to financial queries.

Desirable: Experience with NHS accounting, including reconciliations and VAT rules, as well as working with external agencies and audit teams.
