Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Business Partnering

As a Faculty Finance Manager, you will play a key role in aligning financial strategy with the broader academic objectives of the Faculty of Environment. You will partner closely with faculty leadership to develop and implement detailed and robust financial plans, ensuring that both academic and financial goals are met.

2. Financial Planning & Reporting

You will oversee the preparation of the faculty’s financial plans, including monthly forecasts, statutory returns, and monthly accounts. Your efforts will provide the foundation for sound strategic and operational decision-making. Ensuring that all aspects of financial reporting are accurate and timely will be a critical component of your role.

3. Risk Management

Identifying, managing, and mitigating financial risks will be a central part of your responsibilities. Your work will contribute directly to the financial sustainability of the Faculty of Environment, helping to ensure the effective allocation of resources to meet long-term goals.

4. Team Leadership & Development

You will manage the Faculty finance team, providing leadership and guidance. This includes assigning work, managing workloads, and fostering a culture of growth and development within the team. Your leadership will also extend to motivating team members, ensuring they are well-equipped to contribute to the faculty’s financial objectives.

5. Supporting Senior Management

In the absence of the Faculty Head of Finance, you will deputize for them, taking responsibility for critical decisions and ensuring continuity in financial operations. Your experience in senior management and business partnering will be essential in maintaining the momentum of the Faculty’s financial operations.


Required Qualifications & Skills

1. Professional Finance Qualification

A CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) is essential, or substantial experience in business partnering and senior-level management accounting. Your qualifications and expertise will empower you to analyze and interpret complex financial information, guiding strategic decisions across the Faculty.

2. Line Management Experience

Strong experience in managing teams, including setting goals, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, is necessary. You will be expected to inspire trust and confidence from both your team and other stakeholders within the university.

3. Interpersonal & Communication Skills
