As an OHA teacher, you will collaborate closely with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, and other stakeholders to ensure the academy’s goals are met, fostering a vibrant and supportive educational environment for both students and staff.


Key Responsibilities

As an English Teacher at Ormiston Horizon Academy, your role will include:

  • Delivering High-Quality Lessons: Plan and teach engaging English lessons that align with the National Curriculum (KS3 and KS4).
  • Promoting Academic Achievement: Foster an environment where students are motivated to reach their potential, helping them build a love for the subject and excel academically.
  • Personal Tutor Role: Take on pastoral responsibilities, managing the welfare of your tutor group and acting as a first point of contact for students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborative Development: Work alongside colleagues in the Ormiston Academies network, sharing best practices and participating in joint planning.
  • Supporting Safeguarding: Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all students.
  • Administrative Duties: Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including taking registers, dealing with student behavior, and supporting the smooth operation of the school.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To be considered for this role, you should have the following:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply)
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum (KS3 & KS4 English)
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A thorough understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Strong Work Ethic & Enthusiasm: Passion for teaching and a willingness to go above and beyond for your students.
