Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Early Learning Support
- Assist in creating a safe, stimulating, and caring environment for children aged 0-5 years.
- Support daily routines such as feeding, changing, and nap times.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social skills.
- Help maintain accurate records of each child’s learning and development progress under the guidance of Early Years Practitioners.
- Encourage positive interactions and communication, fostering children’s emotional and social well-being.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all children in your care.
- Follow strict infection control, food safety, and hygiene protocols within the nursery setting.
- Be aware of child protection policies and report any concerns to the appropriate safeguarding officer.
Parental Engagement & Communication
- Build strong relationships with parents, providing daily updates on their child’s activities, progress, and well-being.
- Assist during parents’ evenings, discussing children’s development and any concerns with support from senior staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information about children and families.
Teamwork & Professional Development
- Work closely with Early Years Practitioners, Nursery Managers, and other childcare staff to ensure high-quality care.
- Attend regular training sessions and staff meetings to stay updated on best practices in early years education.
- Contribute ideas for new learning activities, ensuring a dynamic and engaging environment for children.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children under 5 years old in a childcare or early years setting.
- Basic understanding of child development, health & safety regulations, and safeguarding policies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a caring and responsible attitude.
- Ability to engage with children and support their learning through play.
- Willingness to complete training in child protection, food safety, and early years education.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in an NHS childcare setting.
- Formal education or qualification in childcare or early years education.
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
