As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will be responsible for assisting clients with daily tasks, personal care, companionship, and household duties. Key Responsibilities
Personal Care & Support
- Assist with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Administer prescribed medication (following proper training).
- Offer mobility assistance, including helping clients move safely within their homes.
- Provide assistance with daily activities, ensuring clients feel comfortable and respected.
- Support clients with continence care and incontinence management.
Household Assistance
- Provide light housekeeping support such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Support with grocery shopping and errands to maintain a comfortable living environment.
- Ensure proper nutrition by assisting in preparing and serving meals.
- Maintain an organized and hygienic environment to enhance overall well-being.
Companionship & Emotional Support
- Engage clients in meaningful conversations to reduce loneliness and isolation.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments, social events, or daily activities.
- Encourage participation in hobbies and recreational activities to improve mental well-being.
- Provide reassurance and emotional support during difficult times.
Health Monitoring & Reporting
- Observe and report changes in clients’ physical or emotional health to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate care records in compliance with care policies.
- Assist with simple physical exercises and physiotherapy routines as instructed by healthcare professionals.
- Communicate effectively with family members and medical teams regarding the client’s condition.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 6 months of care experience within the UK.
- Previous experience in domiciliary care, homecare, or elderly support services.
- A compassionate and patient-centered approach to caregiving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive care team.
- A valid UK driver’s license and access to a vehicle (required for travel between client locations).
- Female applicants only (due to client preferences).
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Knowledge of basic health and safety practices in homecare environments.
Desirable Qualifications
- SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in palliative care or supporting individuals with dementia.
- Training in moving and handling procedures for safe client transfers.
- Awareness of safeguarding and confidentiality principles.
