Job Overview

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to lead and oversee Water & Ventilation compliance across our multi-site healthcare facilities. This is a crucial leadership role responsible for ensuring statutory, legal, and regulatory compliance, maintaining high safety standards, and improving hard services performance across the Trust.

As a key member of the Essentia Directorate, you will play a strategic role in monitoring compliance, developing risk management frameworks, and driving continuous improvement in performance standards. Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Act as the lead expert on Water & Ventilation compliance, ensuring adherence to UK healthcare regulations, statutory requirements, and NHS policies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance strategies that align with the Trust’s long-term objectives (GSTT Strategy 2030).
  • Maintain and improve reporting systems to ensure a safe healthcare environment for patients and staff.
  • Provide expert professional advice on compliance matters to key stakeholders within the Trust.

Risk Management & Performance Monitoring

  • Proactively monitor compliance metrics, identifying trends and implementing improvement programs.
  • Develop innovative solutions to address complex compliance challenges while ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
  • Lead emergency response planning and act as an emergency manager during major incidents affecting compliance and service delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Communicate complex compliance-related information to a diverse range of stakeholders, including clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Work collaboratively with executive leadership, facility managers, and external regulatory bodies to ensure full compliance.
  • Provide strategic input on compliance policies and procedures, ensuring transparency and accountability across the Trust.

Strategic Development & Innovation

  • Support the Head of Service in shaping the long-term compliance and assurance strategy for hard services.
  • Introduce innovative solutions to enhance service delivery and align compliance with evolving NHS standards.
  • Ensure compliance strategies are data-driven and performance-focused, incorporating best practices in healthcare facility management.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in a senior compliance or hard services management role within an estates and facilities context.
  • Strong knowledge of UK statutory and legal requirements related to healthcare estates compliance.
  • Ability to analyze complex compliance challenges and develop practical, risk-based solutions.
  • Proven track record in budget management, resource allocation, and cost control.
  • Experience in staff leadership and contractor management, ensuring effective compliance across multiple teams.
  • Ability to formulate and present technical reports for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications & Professional Registration

  • Master’s degree in a relevant hard services discipline (e.g., engineering, facilities management, compliance).
  • Membership with a recognized professional body in compliance or healthcare facilities management.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, infection control, and risk assessment protocols.
