We are looking for a dedicated Childcare Assistant to join our caring and nurturing team. Key Responsibilities
As a Childcare Assistant, your primary role will be to create a safe and engaging environment for children while contributing to their physical, emotional, and social development. Here are your key responsibilities:
Child Supervision & Engagement
- Supervise children during a variety of activities, ensuring they are safe and engaged at all times.
- Provide constant supervision to maintain a secure environment while fostering social and emotional growth.
- Engage with children in structured play and learning activities, catering to their individual needs.
Planning & Implementing Educational Activities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that stimulate creativity, learning, and development.
- Ensure that activities are aligned with early childhood education principles to promote holistic development.
- Encourage children to express themselves and learn through play-based activities, fostering key skills like problem-solving and communication.
Routine Management & Well-Being
- Manage daily routines such as meal times, nap times, and play sessions, ensuring a calm and organized environment.
- Provide leadership to junior staff or volunteers, guiding them in supporting children’s activities and managing daily tasks.
- Ensure that the childcare area (toys, equipment, and play areas) is kept clean and well-organized.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, providing updates on children’s progress and well-being.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment by maintaining open lines of communication with parents and team members.
- Offer guidance and support to junior team members, creating a team-oriented atmosphere.
Additional Responsibilities
- Drive children to various activities or appointments as needed (a valid driving license is required).
- Assist with extra duties as needed to maintain the smooth running of the childcare setting.
Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in childcare or early childhood education.
- Leadership qualities to inspire and manage children effectively while supporting colleagues.
- Strong communication skills in English to engage with children and parents effectively.
- A genuine love for working with children and a deep understanding of their developmental needs.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with nursery settings and early childhood education principles.
- Ability to multitask and manage daily routines in a busy childcare environment.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations effectively.
