Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) within the Clinical Informatics (CI) and Business Change (BC) Team. We are looking for a skilled and passionate Business Analyst to join our team and contribute to improving clinical product initiatives in the healthcare sector.

The successful candidate will work on integrating clinical informatics practices within DHCW’s clinical initiatives. As a Business Analyst, you will provide valuable support in business process re-engineering, implementation of the Clinical Informatics Framework, and review of digital clinical pathways, such as those for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs).

This role requires strong knowledge of business analysis tools and agile methodologies. You will also need excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage complex tasks in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

As a Business Analyst within Digital Health and Care Wales, your role will be diverse and challenging, with key responsibilities including:

1. Stakeholder Management & Engagement

You will support the Clinical Informatics and Business Change teams by analyzing clinical practices and identifying opportunities for improvement. Strong stakeholder relationship management is key, as you’ll collaborate closely with clinical and digital teams.

2. Business Analysis & Problem Solving

Utilize a variety of business analysis tools and techniques to investigate problems and propose solutions that will improve clinical workflows. This includes conducting workshops, analyzing business processes, and modeling data for better decision-making.

3. Process Re-engineering & Framework Implementation

You will play an integral part in process re-engineering efforts aimed at improving the integration of clinical data systems. Your role will also involve implementing and refining the Clinical Informatics Framework, ensuring that clinical pathways are effective and efficient.

4. Deliver Insights for Decision Making

You will be expected to deliver clear and concise insights to stakeholders, helping inform strategic decisions regarding clinical informatics practices. This will involve data-driven analysis, reporting, and effective communication to ensure that the right decisions are made for DHCW.

5. Agile Working Environment

This position involves working within an agile environment, so understanding agile principles and practices is essential. You will help facilitate agile sprints, assist with backlog management, and ensure that business requirements are properly prioritized.


Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, the following qualifications and experience are essential:

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to post-graduate level or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience.

  • BSC International Diploma in Business Analysis or willingness to undertake this qualification.

  • Evidence of continuous professional development in business analysis or related fields.

  • In-depth knowledge of business analysis tools and techniques, including process re-engineering, user story capture, and data analysis.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in business analysis within complex environments, ideally in healthcare or NHS settings.

  • Experience in using business analysis tools such as process modeling, workshops, and data analysis.

  • Strong communication skills, with a track record of stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate technical findings into understandable insights for non-technical audiences.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with the NHS Wales or the healthcare sector.

  • Experience of agile working and practical knowledge of agile frameworks.

  • Welsh Language skills (levels 1 to 5 in speaking, reading, and writing) would be an advantage.
