Job Summary
North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a reliable and dedicated Bank Facilities Domestic Assistant to join the team at Alston Hospital. In this flexible, part-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met across hospital premises, contributing to the safe and effective operation of the hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bank Facilities Domestic Assistant, your primary duties will include:

Cleaning and Hygiene Maintenance
- Carry out a range of cleaning duties, including mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, and dusting furniture at various levels.
- Clean toilets, washbasins, and baths while maintaining high hygiene standards.

Waste Management
- Empty bins and dispose of waste following regulations.
- Ensure waste is managed correctly to prevent contamination and uphold hospital standards.

Equipment and Linen Handling
- Collect and manage linen stores.
- Clean and maintain hospital equipment as necessary.

Health & Safety Compliance
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including safe handling of cleaning chemicals and potential biohazards like bodily fluids.

Team Support and Flexibility
- Assist with various ward or department duties as required.
- Adapt to different working patterns and support the team as needed during busier times.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 1 in Cleaning & Support Services or equivalent.
- BICSc certification or similar qualification.
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning & Support Services.
- Experience working in a hospital environment or a similar domestic role.
Essential Skills:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Sound knowledge of hygiene procedures and health and safety protocols.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts and a commitment to learning.
