About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional care to patients admitted with hip fractures. The role is primarily based at Queen’s Hospital in Romford, with some cross-site responsibilities at King George Hospital in Ilford.

  • Salary: £31,081 to £33,665 per annum (inclusive)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver skilled clinical and non-clinical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams.
  • Independently assess, treat, and monitor patient progress, adhering to established protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with the Occupational Therapist and multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in patient discharge planning, with a focus on early intervention and confident decision-making.
  • Contribute to training programs and support staff development within the team.

Main Duties

  • Assist the Occupational Therapy team in providing patient-centered care.
  • Develop and evaluate needs-based care plans in collaboration with patients and professionals.
  • Support the implementation of evidence-based interventions to optimize patient recovery.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Provide clinical support during evening and weekend shifts as part of the 7-day service.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of recent training and CPD.
  • Proven experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and learn new skills quickly.

Desirable

  • Willingness to undertake further training programs.
  • Experience delivering healthcare or training other staff.
  • Computer and clerical skills.
