Key Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Healthcare Support Worker, you will be responsible for a range of duties that ensure excellent patient care and smooth operational functioning within the healthcare setting. Your key responsibilities will include:
Clinical Support Duties
- Assist the qualified nursing team in setting up the clinical area for patient procedures.
- Provide care to patients pre and post-procedure, reporting any concerns to the nursing team.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to maintain high levels of patient care and dignity.
- Ensure that stock and medical supplies are available as required.
Administrative and Housekeeping Support
- Contribute to clerical duties such as patient documentation and record-keeping.
- Assist with cleaning and housekeeping within the department to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Essential Requirements
- GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade 3-2 (or Level 1 Functional Skills).
- Willingness to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and undertake the apprenticeship course within 18 months.
- Basic IT skills for managing patient records and internal communication.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work under supervision as part of a healthcare team.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- GCSEs in English and Maths at Grades 9-4 (or Level 2 Functional Skills or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment is an advantage, but not essential.
- Knowledge of confidentiality issues and patient privacy.
