The Program Support Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Advocacy and Capacity Development team in a variety of tasks, including research, project management, data management, and event support. This role provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in the dynamic field of digital financial services and inclusive payments.

The AfricaNenda Foundation is a leading African-led organization focused on advancing inclusive instant payment systems (IIPS) across the continent. Its mission is to provide affordable, accessible, and secure financial services to the unbanked and underbanked populations, promoting financial inclusion by 2030.
AfricaNenda supports the development of national and regional instant payment infrastructures, delivering technical assistance and promoting policies that accelerate digital payments. This aligns with the African Union’s goals, such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Digital Transformation Strategy.
The foundation collaborates with African governments, financial institutions, and the private sector, working to create a robust digital financial ecosystem that drives cross-border payments and economic growth.
Internship Key Responsibilities
As a Program Support Intern at AfricaNenda, you will have the opportunity to contribute to key initiatives and gain practical experience in several areas:
Research and Analysis

Conduct Desk Research: Provide support in gathering and analyzing data for team presentations, reports, and briefs.

Track Industry Trends: Monitor key advocacy moments and industry developments for strategic leverage.

Prepare Materials: Assist in creating presentations, reports, and briefs to support the advocacy and capacity development initiatives.
Amplification Support

Organize Virtual and Physical Platforms: Help organize and manage events that amplify AfricaNenda’s initiatives and engage stakeholders in advocacy and capacity-building efforts.
Project Management and Reporting

Develop Tracking Tools: Create and maintain tools to monitor project timelines, progress, and deliverables.

Ensure Timely Updates: Assist in updating stakeholders, scheduling meetings, and maintaining documentation to ensure that deadlines and commitments are met.
Data Management and Organization

Update Stakeholder Lists: Maintain and update contact lists for key stakeholders involved in AfricaNenda initiatives.

Track Engagement Metrics: Monitor and report on engagement metrics and interactions with stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of initiatives.
Annual Campaign Execution

Support Cross-functional Campaigns: Help implement campaigns in collaboration with different teams, ensuring they align with the foundation’s goals and objectives.
Skill Development and Adaptability

Project Management Experience: Develop key skills in project coordination and management, especially in digital financial services (DFS) and financial inclusion projects.

Adaptability: Handle diverse tasks that require flexibility, enhancing your ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.

Research & Analytical Skills: Strong research skills, with the ability to analyze data and synthesize information effectively.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling reports and presentations.
