Key Responsibilities of the Management Accountant Role
This position requires a hands-on, analytical finance professional to assist the Directorate Senior Management Accountant and Senior Finance Manager. Core duties include:
Budget Preparation and Financial Reporting

Produce accurate and timely budget statements for directorates and departments.

Ensure budget reports comply with local financial procedures and deadlines.

Prepare variance analysis reports and costings to explain budget performance.

Financial Support and Advice

Financial Systems and Processes

Design and maintain Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and databases for financial calculations and ledger postings.

Monitor and resolve coding errors related to expenditure to maintain financial accuracy.
Month-End and Year-End Accounting

Carry out management accounting month-end processes within tight deadlines.

Leadership and Training

Deputise for the Senior Management Accountant when required.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications

AAT qualified or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

CCAB qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA qualifications is highly desirable.
