Key Responsibilities

Menu Development & Creativity

As Head Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to lead menu development, bringing your creativity to life while maintaining the essence of seasonal ingredients. Your role will involve:

  • Designing new seasonal menus that reflect both local flavors and modern culinary trends.

  • Collaborating with the Executive Chefs to create innovative dishes while ensuring consistency and quality across all offerings.

  • Ensuring that the kitchen remains flexible, adapting menus to customer preferences and seasonal changes.

Kitchen Management & Leadership

One of your primary responsibilities will be managing the kitchen operations efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety. You will:

  • Lead a dedicated team of chefs, ensuring their development and creating an inclusive, supportive working environment.

  • Supervise the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring the smooth execution of all dishes and overseeing the preparation process.

  • Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with health regulations.

  • Control inventory, manage food orders, and monitor stock levels to ensure minimal waste and cost control.

  • Conduct regular training sessions for kitchen staff to enhance their skills and ensure consistency in food preparation.

Key Qualifications & Skills

We’re looking for a skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. The ideal candidate will have:

Professional Experience

  • Previous Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience working as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, Senior Sous Chef, or in a similar leadership role within a busy, premium fresh food environment.

  • Kitchen Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of chefs, motivating them to consistently deliver high-quality dishes.

  • Culinary Expertise: Strong culinary skills, with the ability to create innovative menus and oversee the preparation of both classic and contemporary dishes.

  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of kitchen management, including food costing, stock control, and labor management.

Personal Qualities

  • Passion for Food: A deep passion for cooking and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.

  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively and maintain high morale.

  • Creativity: Ability to introduce fresh, exciting ideas to the menu while ensuring consistency and meeting customer expectations.

  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, ensuring every dish is prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.

  • Culinary Qualifications: A professional culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.

  • Experience with Tronc & Profit Sharing: Familiarity with profit-sharing models and tronc payments is an advantage, though not required.
