Job Summary
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced, proactive, and motivated Project Manager to join the Patient Safety Improvement Team. This pivotal role supports the delivery of safety improvement plans in line with the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
As a Project Manager, you will drive the safety improvement agenda to reduce harm, focusing on follow-up actions related to radiology and histopathology reports. Working closely with internal leaders and external stakeholders, your role will be key in supporting the improvement of patient safety and quality within the Trust.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As the Project Manager, your primary duties will include leading the implementation of safety improvement projects and ensuring the timely execution of all priorities within the Managing Results Group (MRG) safety improvement plan. Your responsibilities will encompass the following key areas:
Project Management
- Strategic Planning: Develop and organize complex project activities and ensure that they align with stakeholder needs.
- Collaboration: Work with multiple stakeholders including staff, digital healthcare teams, and committees to deliver the project successfully.
- Timely Execution: Ensure the delivery of all project milestones in a collaborative manner.
Communication
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong communication channels with staff, leaders, and external partners to ensure project alignment and success.
- Effective Communication Strategy: Work closely with the communications team to develop and implement clear, innovative communication strategies.
Analytical Skills
- Data Analysis: Maintain and analyze data collection systems to evaluate the effectiveness of the safety improvement program.
- Evaluation: Measure and report the success of the safety priorities through data-driven insights.
Financial Oversight
- Budget Management: Oversee invoices, track spending, and ensure that project finances align with budget forecasts.

Knowledge & Qualifications
- Essential: Degree-level education and experience in health services, with a master’s-level qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Desirable: A project management qualification.
Experience
- Essential: Proven experience in project management or service improvement, particularly in healthcare settings.
- Desirable: Experience in organizing and leading stakeholder events.
Skills & Abilities
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
- Leadership: Ability to lead workshops and encourage collaborative working within multidisciplinary teams.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in project management tools, spreadsheets, and word processing.
