About the Role
Livewell Southwest is seeking a motivated and skilled plumber to join our dynamic team. As part of our multi-skilled maintenance team, you will assist with routine maintenance and repair work on plumbing systems, including heating, hot and cold water systems, drainage, and more across a wide range of healthcare facilities.
This is a full-time, permanent position with flexibility in working hours. You will be involved in ensuring that all mechanical services and equipment across our estate in Plymouth and South West Devon are maintained to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
As a Plumber at Livewell Southwest, your primary duties will include:
Routine Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, including heating systems, water services, sanitary systems, and drainage.
- Work with electro-mechanical equipment in a healthcare environment, ensuring smooth operation of essential building services.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing issues, ensuring quick and effective resolutions.
Installation & Upgrades
- Install and upgrade plumbing systems, including hot and cold water services, heating systems, and sanitary ware.
- Conduct system testing and investigate faults to ensure compliance with current standards and regulations.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Maintain a high standard of health, safety, and statutory regulations in all tasks.
- Isolate or make safe any installations that pose a danger to staff, patients, or visitors.
- Ensure all tasks are completed in a workmanlike manner and within specified timeframes.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with other tradesmen to provide comprehensive maintenance services.
- Report any issues or hazards to management, ensuring that health and safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Participate in an on-call rota after completing a probationary period.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ qualification in plumbing and heating systems.
- Completion of a UK-recognized apprenticeship in plumbing.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with relevant software for recording tasks and repairs.
- GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C (or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications
- Health & Safety qualification relevant to plumbing and heating systems.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Confined space training and knowledge of estate management in healthcare facilities.
- City & Guilds or equivalent qualifications in un-vented hot water systems.
Experience
- Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of plumbing and heating systems.
- Experience in healthcare environments is desirable, particularly in maintaining systems within hospitals or clinics.
- Familiarity with computerized Building Management Systems (BMS) and electrical isolation procedures.
