Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarships

The Federal Ministry of Education, led by the Honourable Minister, Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, invites qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2025/2026 Federal Government Scholarship Awards under the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) program.


Scholarship Overview

  • Undergraduate Studies: Available in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, and Algeria.
  • Postgraduate Studies (Master’s & Ph.D.): Available in Russia, China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.

Fields of Study

Undergraduate:

  • Engineering
  • Geology
  • Agriculture
  • Sciences & Mathematics
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Biotechnology
  • Architecture
  • Sports, Law, and Social Sciences
  • Medicine (limited slots)
  • Pilot Engineering and Neurology

Postgraduate (Master’s & Ph.D.):

  • Open to all fields of study.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate Scholarships:

  1. Academic Excellence:
    • Minimum of 7 distinctions (A’s & B’s) in WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) in relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics.
    • Certificates must be:
      • For Non-African Countries: Not older than 2 years (2023 & 2024).
      • For African Countries: Issued in 2024 only.
  2. Age Requirement: 17–20 years.

Postgraduate Scholarships:

  1. Academic Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree with at least a First Class or Second Class Upper.
    • Completion of N.Y.S.C. (discharge or exemption certificate required).
  2. Age Requirement:
    • Master’s: Up to 35 years.
    • Ph.D.: Up to 40 years.
  3. Employer Release: Proof of readiness to be released by the current employer.

General Notes

  1. Language Preparation: BEA countries are non-English speaking. Applicants must complete a mandatory one-year language course in the host country.
  2. Specific Country Requirements:
    • Hungary: Apply for up to two fields at Stipendium Hungaricum. Portal closes 15th January 2025.
    • Russia: Applications via Education in Russia.
      • Postgraduate applicants must have completed their first degree in Russia.
      • WAEC certificates must be uploaded in PDF format.

All applicants must upload the following:

Undergraduate:

  • WAEC/WASSCE Certificate.
  • NIN Slip.

Postgraduate:

  • First Degree Certificate.
  • N.Y.S.C. Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
  • NIN Slip.

Additional documents required upon nomination:

  • Authenticated academic certificates.
  • International passport data page.
  • Birth certificate and indigene letter.
  • Specified medical reports.
  • Police clearance (if necessary).

  3. Complete and submit the online form.
  4. Print the application form for reference.
