Scholarship Details
Deakin University provides two primary scholarship programs:
- RTP Scholarships: Funded by the Australian Government.
- DUPR Scholarships: Funded by Deakin University.
These scholarships are available for both domestic and international students, covering:
- Tuition Fees: Full waiver.
- Living Allowances: Stipends up to $34,400 per annum.
- Relocation Allowance: Between $500 and $1,500.
- Health Insurance: Comprehensive cover for international students.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Deakin University HDR Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a domestic or international student enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) course at Deakin University.
- Have completed at least four years of tertiary education.
- Not be receiving another scholarship that offsets HDR fees.
- Not have an income greater than 75% of the RTP or DUPRS stipend rate for living costs during the course.
- Have achieved 80% or higher in the research component of previous studies or demonstrate equivalent academic excellence, including relevant work experience, research publications, and other research achievements.
- Meet all other minimum entry requirements according to the HDR Admission, Selection, and Enrolment Procedure.
Scholarship Benefits
- Stipend: $34,400 per annum, tax-exempt.
- Relocation Allowance: $500 to $1,500, depending on family status, for those relocating interstate or from overseas.
- Health Insurance: Single Overseas Student Health Cover for international students.
- Doctoral Degree Duration: 3 years for stipends and 4 years for tuition fees offset.
- Research Master’s Degree Duration: 2 years for both stipend and tuition fees offset.

Application Process

- Submit an Expression of Interest (EoI): Fill out and submit the EoI form at least 4 weeks before the scholarship deadline.
Steps to Complete the EoI Form:
- Step 1: Contact a potential supervisor.
- Step 2: Secure supervision approval and an invitation to submit an EoI.
- Step 3: Complete sections 1-9 of the EoI form and send it to your supervisor.
- Step 4: Supervisor completes sections 10-13.
- Step 5: Supervisor submits the EoI form and supporting documents to the faculty email.
